Mobile App

The Golfington App is available for testing for both iPhone and Android!

The app gives you details of courses past and present, with interactive maps listing tee and hole positions, out-of-bounds areas and water hazards and the layout of any buildings on the course. In case of any on-course rule queries, it also includes a list of the rules for reference.

The latest version also includes a scorecard so that you can record your and your fellow players’ scores easily. If you are competing in a tournament, you can upload the scorecard as part of that tournament.

iPhone

Since the app is in testing for the iPhone, you will first need to install Apple’s “Testflight” app to access it. Once you have done that, you can get an invite to test it via email, or install it via this public link if you are reading this on your phone: https://testflight.apple.com/join/OTwO5Xj5

Or scan this with your phone if you are not reading this page on your phone:

Android

You can access the Android testing link without previously installing any other apps, although you will need to tell me your Google account email to add to the “internal testers” list as it is still in test: https://play.google.com/apps/internaltest/4701608303461187331

Or scan this link to Google Play to install the app if you are not reading this on your phone:

What is Golfington?

If you are testing this app then you most likely know what golfington is, but if not:

Golfington has similar rules to golf, but is played with badminton racquets and shuttlecocks. This means that it can be played almost anywhere, either inside or outside or a combination of both. The rules are described under “How to Play”.

While the game can be taken seriously when competing, a certain amount of creativity and silliness is encouraged and fun is very important. Having your favourite drink close at hand is important too.

As no dedicated courses exist (yet), golfington is usually played in public parks or in and around large holiday houses.  When playing in a public park, always be considerate of other people in the park and bear in mind that you might need to modify the route of a hole to play around people who are using that area of the park.  It should go without saying that if you are playing indoors then be extra careful not to damage anything!

Have fun!

Privacy Policy

The Golfington app stores scorecard data if a user enters a scorecard. This is still internally on the phone if it is not uploaded. If it is uploaded then it will be stored in an API for the purposes of displaying the score of the game and the tournament it is part of, if applicable. No user-specific data is stored apart from the names that the user enters on the scorecard. The scorecard data will be visible to other players in the same tournament (if applicable), and may be shared on a web site.

If the user does not use a scorecard, then no data is stored at all.

Any data that is collected through participation in testing will be used solely for fixing bugs in the app or otherwise enhancing the app, and will not be disclosed to third parties.
